I can see clearly now
Life smiled on all of us today. When my eye patch was removed, I could see clearly as expected, and things were healing properly, which means that there will be no more mention of my eye problems anytime in the near future. Now it will be a week or two before I can return to a normal life, but I don’t expect to encounter any eye health issues worth mentioning in my blog. So, congratulations to the VA Eye Surgery team for a job well done, and a big thank you to my readers for sticking with me through my eye health issues.
When I leave for my winter travels again, it will probably be early November, and the first place I head for will be the New Mexico state parks, because my current New Mexico State Park pass expires at the end of November. Since New Mexico state parks have become unaffordable for me, I'll have to figure out how to get the highest and best use out of my soon-to-expire Park pass.
I know I’ll stop at Storrie Lake State Park, as I enjoy being there and it's a perfect place to unwind and re-adjust to life on the road. It's a comfortable and enjoyable Park to stay at for a few days, and there's a Walmart about 3 miles down the road where I can stock up on traveling supplies.
However, when I leave there, I'm not sure what I will do. Normally, my next stop would be the Bosque Del Apache, where I would stay at a commercial RV Park just outside the main gate of the Bosque for a week or so. However, if I do that, I will lose a week of use of my New Mexico Park pass, which means I will also lose a week of free boondocking at any of the New Mexico state parks. And even though the owner of the campground just outside the gate of the Bosque Del Apache knows me and gives me a decent discount on a week’s stay, it still costs more than "free".
So, I'm not sure what to do. I really enjoy being at the Bosque and taking pictures of the Sandhill cranes, considering it one of the highlights of my travels. I could skip the Bosque and stay at some New Mexico state parks until my annual pass expires at the end of November, and then go back to the Bosque. However, that would result in a significant amount of backtracking and considerable extra fuel consumption. So I don't know what I will end up doing, but I have plenty of time to think about it.

These two ladies at the end of trail cowboy shoot must've spent a lot of time and money on those hats. I thought I might make a cute quip about their hats, but then I noticed one of them was carrying a 12-gauge shotgun, and I decided to keep my quip to myself.
