I’m number one.

I went to the Cripple Creek police department yesterday and breezed through the one piece of paper I had to fill out to get a camping permit to camp on my property for five or six days, and was surprised to find that they haven't had that rule for very long and I am camper number one. It took a while to get the paper because no one ever made one before so I guess the Cripple Creek Police Department will definitely remember me because I'm number one. I've been a number one dad before, but I've never been number one with the Cripple Creek Police Department.

Using my piece of property was not as easy as I had hoped. The problem is that Cripple Creek was not designed or laid out to be level like most modern neighborhoods, and towns, so everything in Cripple Creek is either uphill or down, and my property on the road side has a drop-off of about 4 feet which makes it difficult to drive in and out of the property. But I managed to do it; it’s nice to have four-wheel drive sometimes, especially if you live in Colorado.

The Cripple Creek policeman who handled my camping paperwork also took some time to tell me about what's been going on in Cripple Creek, a few plans for Cripple Creek's future, and let me know where the best place to watch the fireworks display this weekend is. I reciprocated by telling him what Cripple Creek was like 35 years ago, and all the people I knew here that are now dead, which I figured would be very interesting until he threatened to tase me if I didn't go away.

Theboondork........ Don't tase me bro !!!

I’m number one !!! It’s good to be number one at something, and now I’m setting the standard for property owners camping on their own land in Cripple Creek.

A deer in my yard. If there were a whole herd of them living here, maybe they would keep my grass cut down and I would have less trouble with the Cripple Creek lawn police.

My neighborhood in Cripple Creek. Since I own property there, I suppose I’m still officially a Creeker. I know my joints seem to think so.

Here’s a picture showing how close my property is to the largest casino in Cripple Creek. The casino is on the right, and my little Lance camper is the white spot sitting behind the white house on the far left.

If my city lots had been zoned for gaming, instead of the $30,000 to $40,000 they’re currently valued at, it would be worth well over a million.

Always remember, the three most important things in real estate have always been, and will always be, location, location, and location.
