It’s June, and it hasn’t snowed on me yet.
It looks like June is here, which I consider the official start to my Summer life and Summer weather. And I say that because quite frequently when I get here in mid-to-late May I get snowed on a time or two, but not this year, so maybe it's going to be a warm Summer, which means I need to spend more time where it's cool, and in Colorado that could only mean... The High Country. Yes, my favorite place in the Summer is the High Country, which starts around 10,000 feet and rises from there.
My property, located near the 11-mile reservoir, is one of my favorite places to be, even though it doesn't quite meet the typical high-country designation, being around 9,500 feet above sea level. Nevertheless, I plan to spend some time there this summer. Hopefully, there will be no monumental influx of mosquitoes like there was last Summer. That was horrendously bad, and I can only compare it to being out in the Everglades, not the mountains of Colorado. However, I've been visiting my property for several decades, and I've never seen mosquitoes as bad as that.
Another thing I would like to do this summer is spend a week or so boondocking on some property I have up in Cripple Creek Colorado. It's about 1/4 of an acre of vacant land thats zoned residential and it's half a block away from Main Street, which is Bennett Avenue, where all the Cripple Creek casinos are located.
Technically, camping on that land might not be exactly legal. Still, since I'm required to keep the grass and weeds cut on the land, I'm thinking maybe I could camp on that land while I'm cutting the weeds, after all that is my land and I'm required to maintain it so I don't see how they could deny me the right to sleep in my camper while I'm doing the job.
In the past, this would not have been a problem at all. The Cripple Creek Mayor was a friend of mine; I was on a first-name basis with the chief of police, and I was a member of the Cripple Creek Chamber of Commerce. I also knew most of the businesspeople in town. But all that has changed, and now I'm pretty much a stranger in a town I helped shape.
Theboondork.... Looking forward to Summer.
It appears that a few more flowers are starting to bloom in the gardens, and since I’m not going anywhere or doing anything particularly interesting, you can probably expect to see more flower pictures in the future, until I get over the doldrums and start doing something worth taking a picture of.
